Is it common to get strep annually?

I had strep throat and scarlet fever at the same time, April of last year. My throat started feeling really dry a few days ago and it hurts to swallow. It isn't as terrible as it was when I had strep throat, but I don't know whether it's going to get better or worse. Today I've been coughing a lot, and there's mucus coming up with it... I think I remember having some of that when I had strep. My throat isn't THAT terrible, but it does look a bit raw in the back and my tonsils are swollen. When I did have strep, I waited over a week to go to the doctor. Only time will tell, I guess, but would it be weird if I happen to have it again?
